1. Exhibit Confidence

Put exercise in your life as a priority. A regular exercise routine like walking, yoga, or going to the gym will give you more confidence and energy as you speak. You can tell the difference between someone who does exercise and someone who doesn’t. The person who exercises speaks with more energy and enthusiasm.

Stand straight and hold yourself in a confident manner. Speak clearly and watch weak words like might or try. Instead of we will try and fix that problem, say we will look at your problem and find a way to get to a solution. Use umbrella words like.

    2. Seek Knowledge

Be willing to stretch yourself by gaining more knowledge on subjects that you are interested in so that you will have an interesting perspective.

3. Free up your responses

As Stephen Covey says in his book 7 habits of highly effective people be PROACTIVE

Life just doesn’t tumble out of blue everyday. You carefully design it. You made the choices you are now living. How do you know what choices you have made? Look around you what you see and feel is what you choose when you got out of bed this morning.

To be truly interested in others you need to have a clear look at what conditions throw you off in the ditch. Proactive people know they are responsible for conditions around them and don’t blame others or their physical environment for what is happening to them.

If you are looking for something to blame you will not be able to win many friends much less influence them. At best you may get them to agree about your current problems but then you will see them quickly leave.

In summary you will find your circle of influence become wider and more enjoyable if you realize you only can control your own thoughts, and words.

The results you get everyday with your interactions with other people come back to the basic principal of working on yourself.

Proactive people focus their efforts on the things they can do something about. Reactive people become concerned with things they cannot control, like traffic, weather, and what is on the local news.

So to Win Friends and Influence People prepare your own clarity and positive thoughts so that you can look others in the eye and see them through your clear lenses of impeccable thoughts and words. Only then will you see who they are and enjoy your interactions with each other.
